Former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen completed 57 of 59 passes Friday, capping an impressive debut workout in front of several NFL scouts at Notre Dame’s Pro Day.
Jimmy Clausen, considered one of the top QB prospects in the coming draft, showed strength and accuracy in his passing game, as he only missed two of 59 attempts in a 45-minute drill.
Clausen said his first workout performance met his expectation well, considering the various injuries he suffered last season.
The Fighting Irish star was coming from an injury-riddles season at Notre Dame, including a toe injury that prevented him to train early this year.
Clausen rated his health status around 75-80 percent, but believes he can achieve full recovery by the end of the month.
ESPN scout Todd McShay admitted he’s impressed with Clausen’s throwing mechanics that usually produce accurate results.
Viking offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell also noted the quarterback’s variation of throws.
Clausen said he has met with some NFL teams – including the Browns and Redskins – but wasn’t sure where he’ll end up after draft night in New York City.
Clausen added he remains optimistic, despite the uncertainty that looms ahead in the draft.
