Inside Dish: Introducing the next two-sport star
QB Terrelle Pryor, one of the nation's top recruits for 2008, is tearing it up in offseason AAU basketball and will be the nation's biggest dual recruit since North Carolina landed Ronald Curry in the late 1990s. In fact, some coaches believe Terrelle Pryor is a more polished basketball player and will need time to learn the quarterback position. The system he plays in at Jeannette (Pa.) High allows him to freelance and depends on him to make plays with his legs when things break down. . . .
Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis says he'll announce the team's top two quarterbacks later this month after he completely digests tape from spring practice. Freshman Jimmy Clausen played poorly in the spring game (3-of-7, 23 yards), but there is little doubt he will be one of the two. Don't be surprised if one of the redshirt freshmen--former elite recruits Demetrius Jones and Zach Frazer--transfers if he's not among the top two. . . .
Georgia Tech freshman WR Demaryius Thomas dominated in spring practice and had coach Chan Gailey comparing him to Calvin Johnson. Considering Gailey once said Calvin Johnson was the most talented player he ever coached at any level, Thomas must be primed for a big season.
