Drug Allegation Nearly Sidelines Notre Dame Quarterback
Demetrius Jones, one of four young signal-callers vying for the starting quarterback job at Notre Dame, had a marijuana charge against him dropped on Wednesday.
According to the report, Jones was driving a friend's vehicle on May 17 and was arrested during a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road. A source familiar with the investigation said police found residue in the ashtray of the vehicle.
Court documents obtained by the South Bend Tribune said the charges against Jones were dropped after another individual testified the item found in the ashtray did not belong to Jones.
Now that that's cleared up, back to the quarterbacking business, no?
Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis has said he'll announce next week the names of the top two quarterbacks heading into the fall. The Sun Times speculates Jones is on that list along with high school phenom Jimmy Clausen. Having this matter cleared up goes a long way in keeping Jones in the running.
Any Irish fans here care to handicap that quarterback battle/speculate on who those two quarterbacks will be?
