2007 Fantasy College QB Rankings
Does the man atop the college fantasy quarterback rankings really need an intro? Colt Brennan has been a fantasy player?s dream in his Warrior career and he?ll look to close it out with one final strong season. Brennan may not top 58 touchdowns in 2007, but he?ll sure get close. There?s little doubt he?s the top fantasy quarterback for this season, but several interesting ranks for this year are in place. But you?ll have to read inside how we think Graham Harrell at Texas Tech will perform with increased pressure from Taylor Potts and his starting job under fire and what we think about Notre Dame freshman Jimmy Clausen and where he fits in our rankings.
Bust pick: Aaron Opelt, Toledo
A couple of players could take this award, but we?ll give it initially to Opelt. Opelt has a world of potential, but the Rockets could turn to Clint Cochran as their starter. Additionally, the Rockets are light on receiving weapons and Opelt didn?t appear to fully grasp the offense last year. Draft Opelt based on the potential of the Rocket offense, but be warned ? he could lose his job to Cochran.
Sleeper: C.J. Bacher, Northwestern
Going into last year, we thought Bacher would win the Northwestern starting quarterback spot. Something happened along the way and he didn?t, but we redeemed ourselves when he took over the job late in the year and looked very polished running the Wildcat spread. Bacher starts out the 2007 season as the unquestioned starter and assuming he can get the passing game going, he could very well be a top 20 fantasy quarterback this year.
Just missed the cut: John Parker Wilson, Alabama; Matt Ryan, Boston College; Ben Mauk, Cincinnati; Blake Mitchell, South Carolina; Michael Desormeaux, UL Lafayette; Thomas Peregrin, Western Michigan
Here?s the scoring system we used for our rankings -
6 points per rushing touchdown
4 point per passing touchdown
1 point per 25 rush yards
1 point per pass yards
