Boise State lands wide receiver recruit from California high school
Wide receiver Christopher Potter from Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, Calif., has committed to play for Boise State, his father told the Idaho Statesman this afternoon.
Potter, a 5-foot-11, 182-pound senior, will play quarterback this season for Oaks Christian, replacing highly touted Jimmy Clausen, who is competing for the Notre Dame starting job this fall.
“He really loves the coaches there. That was the big difference for him,” said Christopher Potter's dad Dana.
Christopher Potter spent his first three high school seasons at wide receiver and will return to the position in college. Potter has caught 118 passes the last three seasons, three short of the school record. Potter also returns punts, punts and is the holder on kicks for Oaks Christian, which has won 46 consecutive games.
“He wants to be a part of a winning program,” said Dana Potter, who coaches quarterbacks at Oaks Christian.
Dana Potter said his son chose the Broncos over Colorado, Oregon, San Diego State and Colorado State.
The Broncos signed offensive lineman Cory Yriarte from the same high school in February. Yriarte will be a freshman this fall.
Commitments are non-binding until players sign a letter of intent in February.
