Jimmy Clausen faces misdemeanor charges
Notre Dame's highly touted freshman quarterback, Jimmy Clausen, was charged in June with transporting alcohol as a minor.
Sources close to the situation told Newscenter 16 this evening that Jimmy Clausen drove a car after an adult purchased alcohol at a liquor store.
That’s a Class C misdemeanor which is the least severe.
Indiana law states that a minor may not drive a vehicle containing alcohol unless one or more of that minor's parents are present in the vehicle.
A Notre Dame spokesperson had no comment on the matter.
Jimmy Clausen is in a pre-trial diversion program, meaning his record will be clean if he does not commit a similar offense within one year.
