Clausen or Sharpley? Answer to come Tuesday
So will it be Evan Sharpley or Jimmy Clausen?
Charlie Weis said on Sunday that he will let everyone know on Tuesday who the Irish quarterback will be for the USC game.
Sharpley replaced Jimmy Clausen after the freshman threw his 2nd interception of the game in the 3rd quarter of Saturday's loss to Boston College.
Sharpley led the Irish to its first points of the day on his 1st drive.
Weis said Jimmy Clausen has been the better play in practice and that has been the main reason he has remained the team's starter.
"I'm not saying that Evan is a bad practice player so don't misconstrue what I'm saying," Weis said in his day after BC press conference on Sunday. "But if you're the best player in practice usually it's going to indicate that you're going to be ready to play in the game."
Weis acknowledged that Sharpley has provided a spark for the team on multiple occasions this season.
He stressed that he has no preference on who the quarterback is.
"Trust me. If I felt that Evan was the best, Evan would be playing," Weis explained.
"I really don't care who plays. I just want whoever gives us the best chance of winning."
When asked about the impression out there that Charlie Weis has to play Jimmy Clausen, Weis immediately interrupted.
"I could care less," Weis reiterated in reference to who the QB is. "I promise you."
"May God strike me dead. I could care less."
